Step-by-Step Guide to Installing the Gear Rail on Your INEOS Grenadier
Installing the gear rail on your INEOS Grenadier allows you to easily mount various accessories, keeping your vehicle organized and ready for any adventure. Follow these step-by-step instructions to install the gear rail and set up your INEOS Grenadier for optimal utility.
Step 1: Gather Tools and Prepare for Installation
- Before starting, ensure you have all the necessary tools
- If your INEOS Grenadier still has the plastic trim pieces in place, you’ll need to remove them.
Step 2: Remove the Plastic Trim Pieces
- Use the trim popper tool to carefully remove the plastic pieces that cover the installation area. Insert the tool between the plastic and the vehicle’s interior and gently twist to pop the clips out.
- Start with the smaller plastic trim pieces on the left and right sides of the dashboard, then move on to the larger piece that wraps around the center console.
- The larger piece is held in place by screws that are hidden underneath the smaller trim pieces. Once the small pieces are removed, unscrew these hidden screws to fully remove the larger plastic trim.
Step 3: Install the Gear Rail
-
Assemble the Gear Rail:
- Before attaching the gear rail to your INEOS Grenadier, you’ll need to assemble the rail components. Use the 1/16-inch Allen key to attach the straight block to one of the corner pieces using the small counter-sunk Allen screws.
- Repeat this process on the other side. The corner pieces are identical, so they can be attached to either end.
-
Determine the Placement:
- The gear rail has an Owl logo that should face upwards. For left-hand drive vehicles, the longer extension of the rail should be on the driver’s side (where the steering wheel is located). For right-hand drive INEOS Grenadier models, reverse this configuration.
-
Install the Gear Rail:
- Carefully fit the assembled gear rail into place where the plastic trim was removed. The rail should fit snugly against the dashboard, with the Owl logo facing up.
- Once in position, the gear rail should stay in place even before you secure it with screws.
Step 4: Secure the Gear Rail with Screws
- Use the T20 Torx bit to secure the gear rail with the screws provided in the kit. There are four screw holes in total, located on the sides and center of the rail.
- Hand-tighten the screws, ensuring a snug fit without overtightening. Since you’re screwing into thin metal, there’s no need for excessive force.
Step 5: Test the Fit and Make Final Adjustments
- Once all screws are in place, double-check the alignment of the gear rail. Ensure the Owl logo is correctly positioned and that the rail is securely attached.
- If necessary, adjust the tightness of the screws to ensure everything is firmly in place.
Step 6: Add Accessories to Your Gear Rail
- With the gear rail securely installed, you can now start adding accessories to your INEOS Grenadier.
- Attach 20mm ball mounts to the gear rail to secure devices like phones, GPS units, or other off-road accessories.
- For additional customization, you can run cables along the rail and down into the center console. This can help keep your dashboard organized and clutter-free.
Step 7: Optional Customization
- If you’ve added power outlets or extra wiring to your INEOS Grenadier, you can also mount clips or other organizers along the gear rail to hold these cables in place.
- Consider matching the gear rail color to your INEOS Grenadier’s interior. The gear rail is available in black, red, and orange, allowing you to choose the look that best fits your vehicle’s style.
